How to make carbon fiber sheets

1. Cutting of prepreg

There are differences in the specifications of carbon fiber boards, First, it need to cut the carbon fiber prepreg according to the required size, and determine the required number of layers of prepreg based on the thickness of the board. The  thicker plate, the more prepreg layers need to be stacked. Taking 1mm 3K carbon fiber board as an example, it generally requires 2 layers of 3K carbon fiber prepreg and 4 layers of unidirectional carbon fiber prepreg.

2. Layering of prepreg

During production, the tensile force and strength requirements of carbon fiber board can be changed at any time. The commonly used layering directions include 0 °, ± 45 °, and 90 °, which can be used to design the layering direction and sequence of carbon fiber prepregs reasonably. Choose the angle orientation based on the required load type to maximize the axial performance of the fibers.

3. Molding curing

Mold the stacked carbon fiber board and place it in a press, adjusting the temperature,set time, and pressure to the appropriate state. When the mold temperature is high, the fluidity of the resin is better and the curing speed is accelerated. However, if the temperature is too high, it will cause uneven solidification of the inner and outer layers of materials, causing swelling and deformation of the product. If the temperature is too low, it will lead to a decrease in product strength. Pressure can tighten the mold and increase material density, ensuring material flow. Sufficient insulation time can better solidify the product.

It has good properties such as high tensile strength, corrosion resistance, seismic resistance, and impact resistance, and can fully utilize the strength and elastic modulus of carbon fibers.The chemical properties of carbon fiber board are very stable, not corroded by organic solutions, and have a long service life. We know that carbon fiber board also has a special advantage, which is its high X-ray transmittance, used for making medical panels. In addition, lightweight and high-strength are its prominent labels, which can be processed into various components.
